How much does it cost to remove a load-bearing wall in Atlanta?

Costs generally range from a few thousand dollars for a simple interior wall to the tens of thousands for a complex structural job. Heide Contracting's range for Atlanta structural wall removal spans roughly 4,500 to 29,500 dollars and beyond, depending on the load, the span, hidden utilities, and finishing. A site assessment produces a real quote.

What makes load-bearing wall removal more expensive?

Price rises with the weight above the wall, the length of the opening, and what hides inside it. A wall carrying a roof and second floor needs a larger steel or LVL beam and engineered footings. Rerouting electrical, plumbing, or ductwork adds cost, as does removing plaster in older homes. Engineering, permits, and temporary shoring are also part of the total.

Is removing an exterior wall more expensive than an interior wall?

Yes. Interior bearing-wall removal is the common, more manageable project. Exterior walls are fundamental to the structure and weatherproofing, so engineers usually design a large opening or header rather than removing the wall outright, which raises the budget and the engineering involved. Heide Contracting sorts out which type a project is during the assessment.
